When I was young, I enjoyed playing with my toy sets. Especially, the medical toy sets. I would spend hours sitting there “operating” my fellow patients. Sometimes, I even "operate" my pets. I made my rabbit lie flat on a homemade stretcher; take out my operation knife to cast a deep cut on it. Don’t worry; my rabbit is still happily alive
Moreover, I get some stripes of cloth and safety pins. I forced my pathetic hamsters to be my genie pig. After I bandaged my patients, I would carefully lift up them, and placed them in homemade wards. Then I will place name card written with their names, birth dates, NRIC numbers and some specific precautions at the side of the beds.
Time goes by; media start to grow as my age increase. I know my naive act when I was young can be a future occupation for me, which is NURSE. Once, I get very excited of being a nurse, I even tried my cousin's uniform. My cousin is a nurse in Institute of mental heath. Although the uniform is not the right gender neither the right size for me, but I enjoyed the moment when I stand in front of the mirror, turning left and right to get a good glance of my angel white uniform.
My cousin told me, to be a nurse I cannot have any phobia of blood. Well, I am perfectly fine with blood, I have zero phobia when comes to blood. Being a nurse must not be afraid of injection too. I considered again, I really dislike the injection on me; however, it is on patients’ body, I think I should be alright.
After doing many research through the internet. If I want to be a full time nurse, firstly I need to get 26 point or below for my o level. Then I have to take 3-year full-time diploma in nursing program.
There are also different types of nursing program, appointed to take care different cases. As for me, I would take up Pediatric Nursing; Children's nursing can cover cases from intensive care of a new-born baby with breathing problems to looking after a six-foot-tall teenager whose leg has been broken in a soccer match.
Many classmates said that they could not imagine me wearing pure white uniform, taking care of crying babies. I would probably give the babies a tight slap each. Is it true? I hope not.
